DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

Theme Select the color settings you want for interface elements such as the ribbon, panes, toolbars, etc. (This setting corresponds to the COLORTHEME system variable.)

Colors Click to open the Drawing Window Color Scheme dialog box and specify colors for various items in the drawing window, such as the grid, drawing background, cursor crosshairs, and more.

File Tab Settings Click to open the File Tab Settings dialog box to determine whether to display file tabs at the top of the drawing area and options for those file tabs.

Display Scroll Bars Mark to display scroll bars on the right side and bottom of the program window or viewport. You may want to hide the scroll bars if you only use the Pan command to scroll drawings. Hiding the scroll bars can also improve performance.

Show Tooltips Mark to display tooltips on the ribbon, toolbars, and other user interface elements.

Display Drawing Window Controls Mark to display drawing window controls in the upper-right corner of the drawing area. They allow you to minimize, maximize, and restore a drawing window.

High-Contrast Grayscale Buttons Mark to display all user interface icons in high-contrast grayscale instead of color.

Display Prompt Boxes with Transparency Mark to turn on the display of prompt boxes. Enter the percentage of transparency to apply to prompt boxes when they display. Prompt boxes display options for commands and are the same as those displayed on the command bar. Turning prompt boxes off may save screen space and may minimize mouse clicks.

Show Model and Layout Tabs Mark to display the Model tab and Layout tabs. You may want to hide the tabs if you only work on the Model tab or if you use the command bar and status bar to switch between tabs.

Display Printable Area Mark to display a dashed line that indicates the printable area on Layout tabs. The printable area is defined by the printer selected for the layout and any custom margins.

Show Paper Sheet in Paper Space Mark to display a bounded sheet of paper on Layout tabs.

Command Lines to Track Enter the maximum number of lines to display in the Prompt History window. As you enter commands, the program tracks each one that you use in a session, the prompts that are displayed, and your responses to the prompts. You can review this information in the Prompt History window. The default value is 256.

Fonts Click to open the Command Bar Font dialog box and select the font, style, and size of the text that displays in the command bar and Prompt History window.

Enable AutoComplete Mark to automatically suggest command names when typing in the command bar. You can also turn AutoComplete on and off by right-clicking the command bar and choosing AutoComplete.

AutoComplete Settings Click to open the AutoComplete Settings dialog box and select how command names are automatically suggested when typing in the command bar. You can also open the AutoComplete Options dialog box by right-clicking the command bar and choosing AutoComplete Settings.

Use Up/Down Arrows for Command History Navigation Mark to scroll the command bar history using the Up and Down arrow keys. Then when you use the Up and Down arrow keys, previous commands display and the other prompt input is skipped. This can be a convenient way to review and even repeat previous commands. If unmarked, using the keyboard arrows pans your view of the drawing.

NOTE For panning, you can also use Alt+arrow keys.

Arc and Circle Smoothness Enter a resolution value for circles, arcs, splines, and arc segments of polylines in the current viewport. (This setting corresponds to the View Resolution command.)

Segments in a Polyline Curve Enter the number of line segments to be generated when turning a polyline into a spline-fit polyline using the Spline option of the Edit Polyline command. (This setting corresponds to the SPLINESEGS system variable.)

Rendered Entity Smoothness Enter a value for the resolution of shaded three-dimensional entities or entities with hidden lines removed. (This setting corresponds to the FACETRES system variable.)

Contour Lines per Surface Enter the number of contour lines that display for each curved surface of a 3D solid. (This setting corresponds to the ISOLINES system variable.)

Pan and Zoom with Raster and OLE Mark to display images and OLE entities during real-time pan and zoom. When unmarked, only the frames of images and OLE entities display. (This setting corresponds to the RTDISPLAY system variable.)

Highlight Raster Image Frame Only Mark to highlight only frames when images are selected. When unmarked, entire images are highlighted during selection. (This setting corresponds to the IMAGEHLT system variable.)

Apply Solid Fill Mark to create hatches, 2D solids (created with the Plane command), and wide polylines with a fill. (This setting corresponds to the FILLMODE system variable.)

Show Text Boundary Frame Only Mark to display rectangular boxes in place of characters when creating text entities. (This setting corresponds to the QTEXTMODE system variable.)

Draw True Silhouettes for Solids and Surfaces Mark to display silhouette edges of 3D solids in a 2D and 3D Wireframe visual style.

Cursor Settings Click to open the Cursor Settings dialog box where you can specify display settings of the cursor.

Fade Control Settings Click to open the Fade Control Settings dialog box where you can specify the fade percentage for .dwg external references, entities on locked layers, and in-place reference editing.
