Converts text entities created with the Text command to a multiline text entity. During the conversion, the selected text entities are removed from the drawing and a multi-line text entity is created.

To convert text

Press return for Settings or Select entities to convert to MTEXT: Choose the text entities you want to convert by drawing a crossing window or a crossing polygon, repeat as needed, and then press Enter.

To customize conversion options before selecting entities

Press return for Settings or Select entities to convert to MTEXT: Press Enter.

In the Text to MText Options dialog box, make your selections.

  • Text Order Select Selection set order to add single-line text to multiline text in the order that you select or Top-down order to add single-line text to multiline text in the order that they appear in the drawing, from the top downwards.
  • Create word-wrap MText Select to add spaces within individual lines of text, which helps balance multiple lines of text.

Click OK.

Select entities to convert to MTEXT: Choose the text entities you want to convert by drawing a crossing window or a crossing polygon, repeat as needed, and then press Escape.


Pressing Enter during this command can generate different results depending on whether entities are selected.
If no entities are selected, the Options dialog box displays. If entities are selected, the command ends.
