Keyboard: MATERIALS

Alias: RMAT

Assigns materials and settings to selected entities, layers, or colors. Materials are images or textures that enhance the visual appearance, including reflective and transparency properties, of the model when it is rendered using the Full Render command (not Render).

A different set of materials can be rendered with visual styles in progeCAD and in third-party software. Use the Explore Materials command for working with this other set of materials.

Assign materials to: <Selection>/Layer/Color/Browse: Choose Selection to select entities in the drawing to which you want to apply materials. Choose Layer to select a layer on which to apply materials. Choose Color to select a color, which will apply materials to entities of that color. Choose Browse to view and edit the materials library without affecting entities, layers, or colors in the drawing. When rendering an entity, material assignments are retrieved first for the entity. If the entity has no material assignments, materials are retrieved for the layer on which the entity resides. If the layer has no material assignments, materials associated with the color are retrieved. If the color has no material assignments, the entity is rendered using the DEFAULT material and the drawing color that it has been assigned.

After your selection, the Assign Materials dialog box displays:

Assign Materials - Library tab

Assign Materials - Mapping tab

NOTE  If you are assigning materials to a floor or background, also see information about the Floor Properties dialog box and the Background Properties dialog box.
