Hatch (command line version)

Hatch (command line version)

Keyboard: -HATCH

Alias: -BHATCH, -H

Fills an enclosed area or selected entities with a hatch pattern using command prompts.

Specify internal point or: [Properties/Select entities/draW boundary/remove Boundaries/Advanced/DRaw order/ANnotative/Origin]: Specify a point inside an enclosed area. To specify a hatch pattern to apply, choose Properties. To determine a boundary from entities that form an enclosed area, choose Select entities. To draw a polyline that determines the boundary for a hatch pattern, choose draW boundary. To remove any of the entities that were previously added from the selection set that defines the boundary, choose remove Boundaries. To specify more options for boundary creation, choose Advanced. To assign a draw order to a hatch entity, choose DRaw order. To specify whether the hatch is annotative, choose ANnotative and then Yes or No. To specify the starting location of hatch pattern generation, choose Origin.

To specify a hatch pattern

Choose Properties.

Enter a pattern name or [(?) to list patterns/Solid/User defined]: Type the name of the pattern you want to create. To list all the patterns, choose ?. To apply a solid fill, choose Solid. To fill the area with a user-defined pattern consisting of individual lines, choose User defined.

[Proceed]/Angle for pattern: To start creating a new pattern consisting of individual lines, specify the angle of rotation of the hatch pattern in degrees, relative to the boundary. To return to the previous command prompt, choose Proceed.

Space between standard pattern lines: Enter a value for the distance between the lines that form the user-defined hatch pattern.

Cross-hatch area? [Yes/No]: To draw a second set of lines at 90 degrees to the original lines, choose Yes. To not draw a second set of lines, choose No.

Specify internal point or: [Properties/Select entities/draW boundary/remove Boundaries/Advanced/DRaw order/ANnotative/Origin]: Specify an internal point, or select entities that determine the boundary for hatch creation, to finish creating the hatch.

To draw a boundary

Choose draW boundary.

Retain polyline boundary? [Yes/No]: To retain the polyline you draw after it is used to create a hatch, choose Yes. To remove the polyline after it is used to create a hatch, choose No.

Specify start point: Specify the start point of the polyline. The command prompts that display as you specify points match the Polyline command options. When you are done creating a polyline boundary, press Enter.

Specify start point for new boundary or <Accept>: To apply the hatch to the polyline boundary, press Enter. To start creating an additional polyline boundary, specify the start point for it.

To change the set of entities used for defining the boundary

Choose remove Boundaries.

[Add boundaries]/<Select entities>: Select the entities you want to remove from the current selection set used for defining the boundary. To add new entities to the selection set, choose Add boundaries, then select the entities you want to add.

To specify more options for boundary creation

Choose Advanced.

Enter an option [Boundary set/Retain boundary/Island detection/Style/Associativity/Gap tolerance/separate Hatches]: To specify a set of entities to use for a boundary definition, choose Boundary set. To specify whether to keep any new entities that are created to draw the boundary hatch, choose Retain boundary, then choose Yes or No. To determine the island detection mode, choose Island detection. To specify the island display style used to hatch entities within the outermost hatch boundary, choose Style. To specify whether the new hatch entity is updated when its boundaries are modified, choose Associativity, and then Yes or No. To set the gap tolerance for closed boundaries during hatch creation, choose Gap tolerance, then enter a boundary gap tolerance value. To specify whether to create a single hatch entity or multiple hatch entities when several closed boundaries are specified, choose separate Hatches, then choose Yes or No.

To specify a set of entities for determining a boundary

Choose Boundary set.

Specify candidate set for boundary [New/Everything]: To specify which entities will be considered for determining the boundary, choose New, and then select entities. To use all entities that are present or visible in the current drawing or viewport, choose Everything.

To specify whether to use entities within the outermost boundary as boundary entities

Choose Island detection.

Do you want island detection? [Yes/No]: To consider entities within the outermost boundary, called islands, as boundary entities, choose Yes. To ignore entities within the outermost boundary when creating a hatch, choose No. When No is selected, the prompts for the ray casting method display.

Enter type of ray casting: [Nearest/+X/-X/+Y/-Y/Angle]: To cast the ray from the specified point to the nearest entity, choose Nearest. To cast the ray in the positive x-direction from the specified point, choose +X. To cast the ray in the negative x-direction from the specified point, choose -X. To cast the ray in the positive y-direction from the specified point, choose +Y. To cast the ray in the negative y-direction from the specified point, choose -Y. To cast the ray at a specified angle from a specified point, choose Angle and enter its value.

To determine the island display style

Choose Style.

Enter hatching style [Ignore/Outer/Normal]: To create a hatch that fills the outer entity and ignores all internal islands, choose Ignore. To hatch an area between the outer entity and its first outer island, choose Outer. To create a hatch inward from an outer entity that, when an internal island is encountered, is turned off until another island within the first outer island is encountered, choose Normal.

To specify the draw order for a hatch

Choose DRaw order.

Enter draw order [do Not assign/send to Back/bring to Front/send beHind boundary/bring in front of bounDary]: To place a hatch behind all other entities, choose send to Back. To place a hatch in front of all other entities, choose bring to Front. To place a hatch behind the hatch boundary, choose send beHind boundary. To place a hatch in front of the hatch boundary, choose bring in front of bounDary. To not change the order in which hatches and other entities are drawn, choose do Not assign.

To specify the starting location of hatch pattern generation

Choose Origin.

[Use current origin/Set new origin/Default to boundary extents]: To set the hatch origin point relative to the current user coordinate system, choose Use current origin. This setting uses the current value of the HPORIGIN system variable. To set a new origin point, choose Set new origin, and then pick a point in the drawing area. This setting changes the value of the HPORIGIN system variable. To calculate the hatch origin point based on the rectangular extents of the hatch, choose Default to boundary extents.

[bottom Left/bottom Right/top rIght/top lEft/Center]: Choose whether to set the origin to the bottom left, bottom right, top left, top right, or center of the rectangular extents of the hatch.
