Displays the Insert Block dialog box so you can insert blocks and drawings into the current drawing. You can also insert advanced blocks or dynamic blocks that were created in a different CAD program; during insertion, press Ctrl to activate the custom actions that are defined for the block.

DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

From File Select to insert a drawing file as a block.

Browse Click to select a .dwg or .dxf file, and then click Open.

Block Name Select the name of an internal block to insert. The list contains the names of all blocks in the drawing.

Specify on Screen Select to specify the insertion point, scale factor, or rotation angle directly in the drawing area. This also allows you to insert multiple block instances. If not selected, the corresponding options are available for insertion point, scale, and rotation.

Insertion Point Enter the x-, y-, and z-coordinates for the insertion point of the block. The default value is stored in the LASTPOINT system variable. Or click Select to pick an insertion point directly in the drawing area and return to the dialog box to specify additional options; the program updates the x- and y-coordinates to reflect the point you specified and the z-coordinate is the value stored in the ELEVATION system variable.

Scale Enter the scale factor of the block. The default value is 1.0; a value less than 1 results in a smaller block; a value larger than 1 results in a larger block. A negative value mirrors (reverses) the block. Unmark Uniform Scale if you want to scale the block independently in the x, y, and z directions.

Rotation Enter the rotation angle for the block. The default is 0 degrees.

Block Unit Displays the insertion units and scale factor defined for the block.

Explode Select to insert the block exploded into its constituent parts.

Use a shortcut.

Drag a .dwg file to the drawing area to insert it as a block. (The DRAGOPEN system variable must be set to 0).
