Before you begin, make sure you know which type of license you own and your Serial Number/License ID  (check your invoice or confirmation email) and the usage terms that apply to it (see the license.rtf file in your progeCAD installation folder).

SINGLE LICENSE (SL) - uninstall required

Here are the most common situations:

  • TRANSFER progeCAD TO ANOTHER PC: To comply with the single-license terms, first uninstall progeCAD from the original PC. Uninstall it the usual way through the Windows Control Panel, and be sure to choose the release license option during the process. Once the uninstall is complete, just install and activate progeCAD on the new PC. A message may appear during activation to remind you of the license terms. Note that the progeCAD license cannot be transferred to another user or company.
  • REPLACING THE PC OR FORMATTING THE DISK : If the old computer still works, you must uninstall progeCAD to comply with the single-license terms. Uninstall it the usual way through the Windows Control Panel, choosing the release license option during the process. If the old computer has been completely scrapped, see the DISK or PC CRASH paragraph below.
  • DISK or PC CRASH:  Simply install and activate progeCAD. If the activation fails, an unlock of the Serial Number may be required — if so, please contact us through the support page specifying your Serial Number and the reason for the unlock request. A message may appear during activation to remind you of the license terms.
  • REPLACE THE DISK by CLONING: If you replace your hard drive by cloning it (for example, when switching to a SSD drive), you may see the error code CF0x08 the first time you launch progeCAD after cloning, meaning a new activation is required. Just reactivate progeCAD in PROGECAD CENTER by clicking the REGISTER PROGECAD button. Here too, a message may appear during activation to remind you of the license terms.

FLEX LICENSE (FL)

When you close progeCAD, a Flexible License dialog box appears. Select "Release license and exit progeCAD" to make the license immediately available on another computer. If this dialog doesn't appear when you close progeCAD, see the "Releasing the license" section of the Flex License Manual to learn how to turn it back on.

USB LICENSE

A license protected by a USB dongle lets you install and activate progeCAD on as many computers as you like. To use progeCAD, simply plug the USB dongle into a computer that has the software installed and proceed with the activation process, following the instructions at progeCAD start. If you own several USB licenses, keep in mind that progeCAD USB dongles are interchangeable within the same version.

NLM LICENSE with NETWORK SERVER (the release of a license is required)

To move the NLM server, you must first release the active licenses. For the full procedure, see the NLM User Guide, which you can open directly from the NLM Server Monitor (the "User Guide (PDF)" button) or click here. If you only need to move or reinstall progeCAD itself (the client), just install progeCAD as usual and follow the guided activation, entering the NLM server details from your network. There's no limit on connections, and the server is detected automatically at the start of the procedure.
