DXF Out

()

Keyboard: DXFOUT

Alias: DX

Displays the Select DXF File dialog box so you can export the current drawing in a DXF (drawing interchange format) file. A drawing interchange file (.dxf) is a text file containing the drawing database information of all entities in your drawing.

When you enter the command to export a drawing in DXF format, the Select DXF File dialog box appears. When you enter the name of the DXF file and click Save, the following prompt appears in the command bar:

Entities Binary Version Enter decimal places of accuracy (0-16) <6>: To accept the default setting for the precision level, press Enter. To change the precision, enter a new value. To select the entities you want to export, choose Entities. To save the file in binary format, choose Binary. Binary format contains the same information as a DXF format except that the information is compacted (binary format is read and written faster but may not be accepted by as many programs as the DXF format). To specify the file format version (the Drawing Interchange Format version), choose Version.

NOTE The default precision level is 6 decimal places. You can increase the precision level if you encounter accuracy problems after importing the saved DXF file, although doing this also increases the size of the file. We do not recommend that you enter a precision level of less than 6 decimal places.
