Import DGN Options dialog box
Import DGN Options dialog box
Use this dialog box to specify options when importing a .dgn file using the DGN In command.
DIALOG BOX OPTIONS
Import From Displays the name of the .dgn file you selected in the Import DGN Drawing dialog box.
Import into Current Drawing Mark to import a model from the selected .dgn file into the current drawing. If not marked, the model is imported into a new drawing.
Select Design Model from DGN File Choose the design model that you want to import. A .dgn file can contain multiple design models but only one can be imported to model space of a .dwg drawing.
View Number Choose the viewport that you want to import. A .dgn file can contain up to eight viewports but only one can be imported at a time.
DGN Profile Displays a list of available import profiles. A profile is a set of settings that control how data in a .dgn drawing, such as colors, lineweights, etc., is extracted and then applied to a .dwg drawing.
ENTITIES tab
Import Invisible Entities Mark to import entities that are not visible in the .dgn file, e.g., entities located on turned off or frozen layers.
Convert Text to Multiline Text Mark to convert text entities to multiline text entities.
Explode Multiline Text Mark to explode multiline text entities to text entities.
Recompute Dimensions Mark to recompute imported dimensions.
Break Dimension Associativity Mark to change imported associative dimensions to be non-associative.
External References Select whether to omit external references, retain external references, convert external references to blocks, or attach external references as DGN underlays.
Convert Shapes To Specify whether to convert shapes to polylines, regions, or polyface meshes.
Convert Ellipses To Specify whether to import ellipses as ellipses (for .dwg drawings) or regions.
Convert Closed B-splines To Specify whether to convert closed B-splines to regions or import them as splines (unchanged).
Convert 3D Entities To Choose whether to import three-dimensional entities as polyface meshes or 3D solids or bodies.
LINEWEIGHT tab
Lineweights List Displays a list of lineweights both from the source .dgn file in the DGN column and the mapping setup in the DWG column. To change the settings, click a .dwg lineweight to open the Lineweight dialog box and make your selections.
OTHER tab
Import Sheet Layouts Mark to import sheet models that reference the design model that you are importing. They are converted to layouts during import. If not marked, the layouts are automatically created from model space in the resulting .dwg file.
Remove Unused Drawing Elements Mark to import only those drawing items that are used in the .dgn file. Note that some default .dgn drawing elements may import even though they are not used in the file. Choosing this option can reduce the size of the resulting .dwg file.
Convert All Colors to True Colors Mark to convert all colors to true colors. If not marked, index colors are used if available in the .dwg color palette, otherwise RGB colors are used.
