Reference Grid

()

Keyboard: GRID

Shortcut: F7, Ctrl+G

Displays a grid of dots on the screen for visual reference. You can specify the spacing of the grid.

An example of drawing being viewed with grid on.

Grid is off: ON Aspect [Equal] <Grid spacing (synched with snap)>: To specify grid spacing, enter a numeric value or specify two points using the mouse. To turn the grid on, choose ON. To turn the grid off, choose OFF (this option is available when the grid is on). To specify different horizontal and vertical grid spacing, choose Aspect. When the horizontal and vertical grid are different, the Equal option appears; choose it to set the spacing the same.

The message reports the status of the grid spacing:

x and y = 10.0000: The x- and y-distance between grid points is the same (10 drawing units in this example).

x = 12.0000, y = 6.0000: The x- and y-distance between grid points differ, as set by the Aspect option.

Synched with snap: The grid spacing is the same as the snap spacing, as set by the Snap command.

NOTE When the grid spacing is 0, it is not turned off. Rather, the grid is set to the same spacing as the snap spacing.

To specify different horizontal and vertical grids

Choose Aspect.

Horizontal spacing <0.0000>: Enter the horizontal spacing.

Vertical spacing <0.0000>: Enter the vertical spacing.

NOTE When you choose Equal, the program sets the x (horizontal) spacing equal to the y (vertical) spacing.
