Most of your work creating entities for your drawing is done on the Model tab, or model space. Use the Model tab to create two-dimensional drawings or three-dimensional models.

When you are ready to print your drawing, you can create entities for your printed drawing on a Layout tab (paper space) so they don't clutter your work on the Model tab. While using a Layout tab, you create layout viewports that allow you to view and work with your model space entities from the Layout tab (paper space). Using the MSPACE command is similar to clicking the Model tab, except you switch to model space while still working on a Layout tab.

A Layout tab must be active before you can use this command; simply click the desired Layout tab.
