Map Image Type

Keyboard: GEOMAPIMAGESETMAPTYPE

Changes the map style of existing map images. An Internet connection is required. This command is available only when a map image that was created using the Capture Area command is selected in the drawing.

The map types that are available in the program depend on the geospatial map service you are using.

To use Esri^®

Select map type [Open street map/Imagery/Streets/Light gray/Dark gray]: To display the map as a vector image based on open source street maps, choose Open street map. To display the map with satellite imagery, choose Imagery. To display the map with roads, railways, waterways, boundaries, and built environments, choose Streets. To display a light gray map, often used as a background, with minimal features, choose Light gray. To display a dark gray map, often used as a background, with minimal features, choose Dark gray.

To use Microsoft^® Bing^® or Azure^®

Select map type [Aerial/Road/Hybrid]: To display the map as aerial imagery, choose Aerial. To display the map as road imagery, choose Road. To display the map as aerial imagery overlaid with roads, choose Hybrid.

If both the Bing and Azure geospatial map services are available on your computer, use the Map Service (Microsoft) command to specify which map service to use.
