Edit Spline
()
Keyboard: SPLINEDIT
Modifies a spline.
Select spline: Select the spline you want to modify.
Enter an option [Close/Join/Fit data/Edit vertex/Reverse/convert to Polyline/Undo]: To close an open spline, choose Close (or if a closed spline is selected, choose Open to erase the spline segment between the end point and start point that was created with the Close option). To combine the selected spline with other splines, lines, polylines, or arcs, choose Join. To edit a spline by modifying fit points, choose Fit data. To edit a spline by modifying control vertices, choose Edit vertex. To reverse the direction of a spline (for third-party components), choose Reverse. To convert a spline to a polyline, choose Convert to Polyline. To undo the previous change, choose Undo.
To edit a spline by modifying fit points
Choose Fit data.
[Add/Close/Delete/Move/Purge/Tangents/toLerance/eXit]: To add a new fit point, choose Add. To close an open spline, choose Close (or if a closed spline is selected, choose Open to open it). To remove a fit point from the spline, choose Delete. To move a fit point to a new location, choose Move. To redefine the spline to use control vertices instead of fit points, choose Purge. To change the tangents of the start and end points of the spline, choose Tangents. To change the tolerance of the spline, choose Tolerance. To return to the previous command prompt, choose Exit.
To add a new fit point
Choose Add.
Specify existing fit point on spline <exit>: Select an existing fit point on the spline. If the first fit point of an open spline is selected, you are prompted to choose whether to add a new fit point after or before the first fit point. If the last fit point of an open spline is selected, the new fit point is added to the end of the spline so that a new spline segment is created.
Specify new point <exit>: Specify a location for the new fit point in the direction of the next existing fit point that is highlighted. Continue to specify as many additional fit points as needed.
To remove a fit point from the spline
Choose Delete.
Specify existing fit point on spline <exit>: Select the fit point to remove from the spline.
To move a fit point to a new location
Choose Move.
Specify new location or [Next/Previous/Select point/eXit] <N>: Specify a new location for the first fit point. Choose Next to specify a new location for the next fit point. Choose Previous to specify a new location for the previous point. To select any fit point on the spline, choose Select point.
Specify fit point to move <exit>: Specify the fit point that you want to move, and then specify a new location for it.
To redefine the spline to use control vertices
Choose Purge.
To change the tangents of the spline
Choose Tangents.
Specify start tangent or [System default]: Specify a point to determine a tangent direction for the start point of the spline. Or choose System default to set the default start tangent.
Specify end tangent or [System default]: Specify a point to determine a tangent direction for the end point of the spline. Or choose System default to calculate the default end tangent.
If a closed spline is selected, you are prompted to specify a tangent direction for the point of closure.
To change the tolerance of the spline
Choose Tolerance.
Enter fit tolerance <0.000000>: Specify a new value for the tolerance of the spline. The tolerance value defines the maximum allowed distance between a fit point and the spline.
To edit a spline by modifying control vertices
Choose Edit vertex.
Enter a vertex editing option [Add/Delete/Elevate order/Move/Weight/eXit]: To add a new vertex to the control frame of the spline, choose Add. To delete a vertex from the control frame, choose Delete. To increase the number of control vertices, choose Elevate order. To move a control vertex to a new location, choose Move. To change the weight of the specified control vertex, choose Weight.
To add a new control vertex
Choose Add.
Specify point <exit>: Specify one or more locations for new control vertices.
To remove a control vertex from the spline
Choose Delete.
To increase the number of control vertices of the spline
Choose Elevate order.
Enter new order: Enter a value higher than the current order. This increases the polynomial order (degree plus one) of the spline. The maximum value is 26.
To move a control vertex to a new location
Choose Move.
Specify new location or [Next/Previous/Select point/eXit] <N>: Specify a new location for the first control vertex. Choose Next to specify a new location for the next control vertex. Choose Previous to specify a new location for the previous control vertex. To select any control vertex of the spline, choose Select point.
Specify control vertex to move <exit>: Specify the control vertex that you want to move and then specify a new location for it.
To change the weight of control vertices
Choose Weight.
Enter new weight or [Next/Previous/Select point/eXit]: Enter a new weight value for the first control vertex. Choose Next to specify a new weight for the next control vertex, choose Previous to specify a new weight for the previous control vertex, or choose Select point to select any control vertex of the spline. Enter a new weight value for each selected control vertex if needed. Higher values move the specified spline closer to its control vertices.
