Modifying entities - Express

Text

Text fit
  1. Fit the text by extending it or tightening it up in relation to two points specified by the user.
To fit the text in relation to two points
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Text > Text Fit.
  3. On the Express Tools toolbar, click Text Fit tool (
  4. ).
  • Type textfit and press Enter key.
  • Select the text to be fitted.
  • To specify the starting point digit s then Enter.
  • Specify the first point in which the text will be fitted.
  • Specify end point.
Text Mask
  1. Text Mask allows to hide objects around a text with an empty area offset from the text by a specified value, to make the text more legible.
  1. You can create a Wipeout, a 3dface or a solid to mask objects around a text.
To create a text mask
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Select Express > Text > Text Mask
  3. Type textmask and then press Enter.
  4. Select text objects to mask.
    The options allow to choose the mask type, set the distance from the text, proceed creating the mask with default settings. With the option Mask, you can choose the masktype among Wipeout, 3dface or Solid. Wipeout is a default choice.
  5. Wipeout: A wipeout is a polygonal area that masks objects under a text with the current background colour. This area is surrounded by a rectangular frame that can be displayed if you need to modify it or can be removed if you want to print. If you don't want to display the frame around the text mask, type:
  6. 3dface: Creates a 3D Face behind the text. The 3D plane obtained by this option has all of its edges set to invisible. If you need to select the mask, set the variable SPLFRAME to On or 1, to make the edges visible.
  7. Note: To remove the mask it is not necessary to select and delete it, but you can quickly use the command Unmask Text of the Express Tools.
  • Solid: Choosing this option, the text is masked with a 2D solid in a specified colour. You're prompted to select the colour from the colour palette.
  • Offset: Specify the distance from the text. The initial default value for the offset factor is 0.35. Type a new offset factor relative to the text height and then press Enter.
To remove text mask
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Select Express > Text > Unmask Text.
  3. Type textunmask and then press Enter.
  4. Select the text from which you want to remove the mask and then press Enter or right click the mouse
Explode text
  1. Explodes the text in some geometries to which it's possible to assign some heights or an elevation.
To explode a text
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Text > Explode Text.
  3. On the Express Tools toolbar, click Explode Text tool (
  4. ).
  • Type textexp and press Enter key.
  • Select the text to explode.
Convert text to mtext
  1. Convert a single line text to multiline text.
To Convert Text to MText
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Text > Convert Text to MText.
  3. Type text2mtxt and press Enter key.
  4. Select the text to convert and press Enter key.
Justify Text
  1. Changes a text justification without changing its position. For example, you can have a table with a text in it justified to the left instead of to the right. After modifying the justification, any changes of this text will be justified to the right for any further input or modification. It works with the text, mtext, and attribute definition objects.
To justify text
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Select Express > Text > Justify Text
  3. Type tjust and then press Enter.
  4. Select the text which justification you want to modify
Rotate Text
  1. Rotates a single line text or an Mtext of a specific angle.
To rotate a text
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Text > Rotate Text.
  3. Type torient and press Enter key.
  4. Select the text or the Mtext to be rotated and press Enter.
  5. Specify the new absolute rotation angle and press Enter.
Enclose text with object
  1. Encloses single line texts or the Mtexts in entities specified by the user: circles, slots, rectangles.
To enclose texts with object
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Text > Enclose Text with Object.
  3. Type tcircle and press Enter key.
  4. Select the entities to be enclosed and press Enter.
  5. Type the text distance from the entity that encloses it (offset) and press Enter.
  6. Type one of the following options and press Enter:
  7. Circles To enclose the texts with circles.
  8. Slots To enclose the texts with slots.
  9. Rectangles To enclose the texts with rectangles.
  10. Type one of the following options and press Enter:
  11. Constant The dimensions of the entities that enclose the text are not fitted to the different dimensions of the texts to be enclosed.
  12. Variable The dimensions of the entities that enclose the text are fitted to the different dimensions of the texts to be enclosed.
Automatic text numbering
  1. Adds a sequential numbering to text objects. The numbering can be inserted as a prefix, suffix, or restore text.
To automatically numbering a text
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Text > Automatic Text numbering.
  3. Type tcount and press Enter key.
  4. Select the text enteritis on a single line text or Mtext to be numbered and press Enter.
  5. Type one of the following options and press Enter:
  6. X Place some numbers at the x coordinate increment of the selected text.
  7. Y Place some numbers when the value of the y coordinate of the selected text decreases.
  8. Select-order Place the number in relation to the text order of selection.
  9. Type one of the following options to determine the type of ordering and press Enter:
  10. Increasing
  11. Descreasing
  12. Type the first number from which the numbering starts and press Enter.
  13. Type the increment for the numbering and press Enter.
  14. Type one of the following method of entering and press Enter:
  15. Overwrite Restore the selected text strings with numbers.
  16. Prefix Add the number as prefix to the text.
  17. Suffix Add the number as suffix to the text.
  18. Find&replace Replaces a text specified by the user with a number.
Change Text Case
  1. Changes the case of the selected text, mtext, attributes and dimension text.
To change the text case
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Select Express > Text > Change Text Case.
  3. Type tcase and then press Enter.
  4.  
  1. Choose one of the following:
  2. Sentences case: capitalizes the first letter of a sentence.
  3. lowercase: converts all the letters in the lower case.
  4. UPPERCASE: capitalizes all the letters.
  5. Title: begins every word with the capital letter.
  6. tOGGLE cASE: inverts the case of each individual character. This option is useful if you type with Caps Lock on without realizing it.
  7. Press OK to confirm.
