Modifying entities - Express

Blocks

Copy nested objects
  1. Allows duplicating one or more objects belonging to a block.
To copy nested objects in a block
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Blocks > Copy Nested Objects.
  3. On the Express Tools toolbar, click Copy Nested Objects tool (
  4. ).
  • Type ncopy and press Enter key.
  • Select the block entities to copy and press Enter.
  • Specify the base point.
  • Specify the displacement point.
Trim to nested objects
  1. Execute the trim on some entities considering the block objects as trim limit.
To trim some entities using the ones of a block as trim limit
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Blocks > Trim to Nested Objects.
  3. On the Express Tools toolbar, click Trim to Nested Objects tool (
  4. ).
  • Type btrim and press Enter key.
  • Select the block entities to be considered as trim limit and press Enter.
  • Choose one of the trim methods and proceed selecting the entities to be trimmed.
Extend to nested objects
  1. Extends some entities considering the block objects as extension limit.
To extend some entities considering the block objects as extension limit
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Blocks > Extend to Nested Objects.
  3. On the Express Tools toolbar, click Extend to Nested Objects tool (
  4. ).
  • Type bextend and press Enter key.
  • Select the block entities to be considered as extension limit and press Enter.
  • Select one of the extension methods and proceed by selecting the entities to be extended.
Replace block with another block
  1. Replaces in a drawing all the occurrences of a specific block with another block.
To replace a block with another
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Blocks > Replace block with another block.
  3. Type blockreplace and press Enter key.
  4. Do one of the following:
  5. Select in the list the block to be replaced and choose OK.
  6. Click on Pick and choose the block to be replaced in the drawing.
  7. Do one of the following:
  8. Select in the list the block that replaces the block previously selected and choose OK.
  9. Click on the Pick button and choose in the drawing the block that replaces the block previously selected.
  10. If, at the end of the procedure, the intention is to delete the blocks that don't refer to the drawing anymore answer Yes, otherwise No.

Convert block with xref
  1. BLOCKTOXREF replaces all references of a block with an xref that you specify.
To replace a block with an xref
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Express > Blocks > Convert block with xref.
  3. Type blocktoxref and then press Enter.
  1. Choose one of the following:
  2. Select a block to be replaced with an xref and press OK.
  3. Use the Pick button to select blocks from the drawing.
  1. Select an external reference file and then press Open.
  2. As the command is completed you can have the unreferenced block purged if you choose the default answer to the request Purge unreferenced items when finished? <Y>:.
