Dimensioning your drawing - Editing dimensions

Making dimensions oblique

Extension lines are normally created at a perpendicular angle to the dimension line. You can change the angle of the extension lines, however, so that they tilt relative to the dimension line.

To make oblique extension lines
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Choose Dimension > Make Oblique.
  3. On the Dimension toolbar, click the Dimension Edit tool (
  4. ) and then in the prompt box, choose Oblique Lines.
  • Type dimedit, press Enter, and then in the prompt box, choose Oblique Lines.
  • Select the linear dimension, and then press Enter.
  • Type the obliquing angle, and then press Enter.
  •

Select the dimension to be made oblique ( A ), and then type the obliquing angle.

    Result.

  • NOTE To align the oblique angle if you don't know the exact measurement, use snaps to pick two points on the entity.
